Sorry for the many articles about ramen. I love ramen, and when I eat alone or after a drinking party, I usually eat ramen before going home.
It’s difficult for my family to go to a ramen restaurant (there are few restaurants that have tables where families can sit), so I often go alone.
While eating at Oudouya today, I thought I’d introduce a selection of some of my favorite thick, flavorful ramen you can get in and around Tokyo.
I live in Chiba, so I’ll introduce 5 places from there for now! They’re all delicious!
Oudouya(王道家)
First, I’ll mention “Oudouya” because it’s super famous and my favorite.
I won’t go into the details because I’ve already mentioned it in the article. Although it was banned from Iekei, it’s a classic flavor. The chicken oil is the best.
The main store is in Toride City, but I recommend the Kashiwa store. It was originally in Kashiwa, so it’s no exaggeration to say True Main Store
Check here for the Toride main store
Teracho(てらっちょ)
Next is “Teracho” located in Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture.
Teracho is very fatty! Please enjoy the quality fat.
The words “Flowers on dead trees, back fat for ramen” are inscribed on the back of the waiter, proving that the ramen’s pursuit of fat is no joke.
One thing to note is that Sandaime Teratcho is located in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, and Nidaime Teratcho is located along National Route 6 in Ibaraki Prefecture. They both have the same Teratcho name, but serve different types of ramen.
I occasionally go to “Sandai Teracho” in Kashiwa and it is tasty in its own way, but if you are looking for fatty food, just go to Teracho in Abiko without thinking twice!
Another great thing about Teracho is that they offer a free refill of noodles (thin noodles).
Please visit Abiko Teracho and when asked your preferences, ask for “more fat, stronger flavor, and softer noodles.” Your stomach will feel a tremendous amount of damage after eating, and you will be satisfied. (You will have to rest in the parking lot for a while.)
The store’s parking lot is free, but if it’s full you’ll have to pay to park there, and there’s also a parking lot at Teganuma Park nearby, so we recommend going by car!
Everyone, please try adding some back fat to your bowl of rice!
The parking lot location was also shown on Google Maps, so I’ll post it here just in case. It’s behind the store.
Naritake(なりたけ)
Naritake is also famous for its back fat. There is a store in Tokyo, but I will introduce a store in Tsudanuma, Chiba Prefecture that I often went to.
You can get there by car,
You’ll have to get there by car, but if you’re travelling by train, check out our store in Tokyo.
This is a mecca for fat lovers, with ramen that is known for its “back fat chucha” style.
When ordering ramen, you will be asked how much fat you would like, and you can choose from light, normal, heavy, or “gitogito” (greasy).
Please declare it “gitogito”!
What surprised me about Naritake was that they even opened a store in my hometown, Fukuoka! Tonkotsu ramen is mainstream in Fukuoka, so I was really surprised. I wonder if it will suit the tastes of Fukuoka residents. Either way, it’s a black ship for Fukuoka city!
What surprised me even more was that when I looked at the sign, I saw that they also have a store in Paris… I wonder if it suits the tastes of Parisians!? I would like to try the back fat ramen at the Paris store someday.
kaminari(雷)=Thunder
“Kaminari” is also great. This is the main store in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.
The good thing about Kaminari is that the meat is thick. And it’s incredibly voluminous. Like a mountain. And of course it’s fatty.
It’s closer to Jiro-style ramen than the back fat ramen we’ve listed here, but I love it so I’ve included it in the ranking!
Before I knew it, the store was selling well and was very clean. There is a parking lot in front of the store, but it is almost full, so if it is crowded, park in the paid parking lot on the other side of National Route 6.
It’s not far from Kita-Matsudo Station on the JR Joban Line, so you can go there by train. It’s a great way to work off your hunger, as you’ll be full after eating.
The extra thick noodles will take you to heaven, so be sure to give it a try.
Benkei(べんけい)
Introducing the long-awaited “Benkei,” a ramen restaurant with its main store in Asakusa, Tokyo, that is synonymous with back fat ramen.
The back fat is so thick that you can’t tell if it’s soup or back fat or what. Recommended for those who want to eat back fat in a thick, thick way!
I think most foreigners who come to Tokyo will visit Asakusa at least once, but I doubt many of them will go to Benkei.
From Kaminarimon, go down Nakamise-dori, pass Sensoji Temple, and you’ll find it along the road behind. If you go to Asakusa, be sure to check out the shop’s appearance and be lured in by the thick smell of back fat.
(Your stomach will be all mush on the way back, so take a walk along the Sumida River while looking at Tokyo Skytree to give your stomach a rest.)
Be sure to find your favorite thick back fat ramen in Japan.
I love all the restaurants I introduced, but to be honest, I don’t think they will appeal to everyone…
There are many different styles of ramen in Japan, so be sure to try a variety of different styles, not just backfat ramen!
I hope you have a good Japanese ramen life! Next, I will select my favorite Fukuoka Hakata ramen.
fanfan japan!!
